What to use for delaware criminal court records

For a Delaware criminal case, request the case record from the court that handled it using that court’s public-access policy and records contact. CourtConnect is the judiciary’s civil-docket service, not the criminal-record route. A certified consolidated Delaware criminal history is a separate State Bureau of Identification (SBI) product.

New Castle lists a Court Records Request contact; Kent and Sussex list Prothonotary/criminal case offices. Request the case docket or specific judgment/order with the name, case number if known and approximate date. Superior Court’s access policy permits public case-record requests but excludes sealed, expunged and other protected material.
A Court of Common Pleas criminal case. That court’s record custodian. Choose Wilmington, Dover or Georgetown through the court contact directory and ask for the case record/copy route. Its public-access policy allows requests to the record custodian orally or in writing as prescribed by the court, with enough detail to identify the record. It does not release cumulative multi-court criminal-history records.
A case in a different Delaware court. The court named on the case paperwork. Use the judicial-record access policy index and court contacts for the named court, including Justice of the Peace or Family Court. Ask about access restrictions, copy/certification charges and delivery before requesting; do not substitute a civil CourtConnect no-match for a criminal search.

  • Verify the person. Match the person with the strongest identifiers the source provides: compare middle name, age or birth date, jurisdiction, and event timing so identity uncertainty stays visible.
  • Finish with the record owner. A case or index hit is the discovery layer; document issuance is a separate request. The source that owns the record should remain visible in the final evidence trail.
